The Quest To Become UGC Gaming Gods
As we gear up for 2024, we have been working on the potential development of several UGC titles. UGC as a business venture is still new, and a lot of questions around scalability still remain. Roblox has solidified its place as a meaningful option to conduct gaming business, but like any new market, there are newcomers that could present higher potential upside based on the time a studio enters and the potential scale of that community.
Of course, UEFN is the latest entrant to compete with Roblox, but for this post we will skip that conversation and opportunity.
We’re going to talk about the TikTok underground, the groups of anon companies that are trying to crack the code of becoming game companies layered on top of TikTok.
We are talking about the concept of accessing the TikTok streamer network to create what are referred to as “TikTok Interactives”
Let’s start with a video from one of these companies that shows the infrastructure of a TikTok layered social media game…then we will show implementation.
Please be warned that we are not advising you to try this yourself. We are exploring making these games at our company, but it is so new that there is risk associated.
What’s Happening In The Background?
These games are not actually being played on TikTok itself. They are being streamed by content creators through a browser game and a connection between the browser game and the TikTok livestream is made. The games are simple, with the core loop being a micro whale making a donation that creates a game board effect that other viewers can see and comment on. There are no controls for the viewer other than message interaction. These type of games operate like very simple auto battle titles.
In fact, many of these titles resemble web3 play to earn games and they are marketed as such to the core customer which are midcore or lower TikTok live streamers.
Here is a very TikTok native advertisement from this same company.
There are not many companies offering this service, based on our count maybe 5-10 max if that. Most look shady. Most early trends look shady.

These types of games are promoted on very native TikTok affiliated channels such as TikTok Reddit. It’s difficult to understand what is happening here unless you are native to TikTok. This is why other publication are not covering it in depth.
How are they currently sold?
The problem with these types of games today is their scalability. These are very simple games that should be free to play or download, but a system for this does not exist yet…so these indie company sites sell them as one set package and bake in multiple TikTok games at once.
How does discovery work?
It currently doesn’t. This is another issue that needs to be solved for TikTok to compete on the main UGC stage. The discovery only happens at the TikTok live streamer level because of the difficulty to enable and because these games must be played live. They cannot be played async. Async TikTok games would grow very quickly.
We believe discovery can be solved with direct TikTok corporate support.
